Training opportunities

FST Mediateca Toscana Film Commission promotes courses geared to young people, adults, employed and unemployed people. These courses are organized in collaboration with the Local Administration; FST Mediateca Toscana Film Commission is in fact a formative agency supported by Regione Toscana.

Social activities

Since 1991 FST Mediateca Toscana Film Commission has been organizing educational courses geared to people in Tuscan jails with audiovisual languages being the main subject. Our courses have the goal to simplify and to develop learning through social activities. They analyze film topics and plots and teach how to connect re-educational activities onto filmmaking.

Lanterne Magiche

Lanterne Magiche a training activity supported by the Tuscany Region, promote the teaching of the language of cinema and audiovisual in schools of all levels. Since 2009 laboratories of Lanterne Magiche, implemented throughout all Tuscany and coordinated by the Fondazione Sistema Toscana, in agreement with FICE (Federation of Cinema d'Essai), integrate and renew the experience called Andiamo al Cinema , a project of the Mediateca Regionale Foundation started in 1996. Today Lanterne Magiche collaborates with over 125 schools in Tuscany, involving about 1,600 teachers and 40,000 students, through courses of film literacy and screenings in cinemas.

This laboratory on the image education combines the desire to spread the pleasure of cinema culture to the will to increase critical and "reading" capacities of the new generation towards the audiovisual language. It is a training experience implemented through activities and targeted tools as: the vision at cinema of movies selected among a list provided to schools at the beginning of each school year; lessons in class taught by teachers-trainers of Lanterne Magiche; the creation of educational materials (always updated and available on this Website) able to offer to students and teachers tools and necessary information for the film analysis. The methodology used by Lanterne Magiche is modulated depending on the age of participants and the context in which they live, proposing, through film study, collective and individual food for thought.

Within the Lanterne Magiche's Teaching section, there are educational materials - which are divided in Propaedeutics and Film Analysis - available to schools and accessible according to different educational needs.
