FST Mediateca Toscana Film Commission is not only a
multimedia library which mantains various documents, but also a
versatile and innovative cultural foundation where it is possible
to find a huge range of activities tied to cinema, video, computer
sciences, multimedia and more.
FST Mediateca Toscana Film Commission promotes courses geared to young people,
adults, employed and unemployed people. These courses are organized
in collaboration with the Local Administration; FST Mediateca Toscana Film Commission is in fact a formative agency supported by Regione Toscana.
Since 1991 FST Mediateca Toscana Film Commission has been
organizing educational courses geared to people in Tuscan jails
with audiovisual languages being the main subject. Our courses have
the goal to simplify and to develop learning through social activities.
They analyze film topics and plots and teach how to connect re-educational
activities onto filmmaking.
Lanterne Magiche a training activity supported by the Tuscany Region,
promote the teaching of the language of cinema and audiovisual in schools of all levels. Since 2009
laboratories of Lanterne Magiche, implemented throughout all Tuscany and coordinated by the
Fondazione Sistema Toscana, in agreement with FICE (Federation of Cinema d'Essai),
integrate and renew the experience called Andiamo al Cinema ,
a project of the Mediateca Regionale Foundation started in 1996. Today Lanterne
Magiche collaborates with over 125 schools in Tuscany, involving about 1,600 teachers and 40,000 students,
through courses of film literacy and screenings in cinemas.
This laboratory on the image education combines the desire to spread the pleasure
of cinema culture to the will to increase critical and "reading"
capacities of the new generation towards the audiovisual language.
It is a training experience implemented through activities and
targeted tools as: the vision at cinema of movies selected
among a list provided to schools at the beginning of each school
year; lessons in class taught by teachers-trainers of Lanterne
Magiche; the creation of educational materials (always
updated and available on this Website) able to offer to students and
teachers tools and necessary information for the film analysis. The
methodology used by Lanterne Magiche is modulated depending
on the age of participants and the context in which they live,
proposing, through film study, collective and individual food for

to schools and accessible according to different educational needs.

Productions and Publications
One of the most important
resources of FST Mediateca Toscana Film Commission, since its debut, has been
the production of documentaries and films, and, since 2005, the
production of multimedia subjects.
FST Mediateca Toscana Film Commission has
also released books and publications of and about Italian and International
filmmakers and actors, periodically, as well as special rare events.
FST Mediateca Toscana Film Commission now offers a great range of Audiovisual
Services to the Town Hall, public administrations, schools, Universities
and cultural associations.
