Abstract: Il film è stato realizzato tra il giugno e l'ottobre del 1992 in un penitenziario estone. “In Paradisum” segue la vita di Pille, moglie di Andreas, condannata come pluriomicida. Filmato con lo stile del «cinéma vérité», è un raro sguardo all'interno delle prigioni estoni e, al tempo stesso, la personale testimonianza di una donna che subiva violenze disumane dal parte del marito. Si susseguono immagini di donne e della loro vita quotidiana nel penitenziario. Ci si sofferma sui loro tatuaggi, sui bambini che vengono allattati, sui momenti in cui ci si dedica alla cucina. Nel frattempo una voce fuori campo ci racconta la terribile esperienza di vita di Pille.
The film was made between June and October 1992 in an Estonian prison. “In Paradisum” follows the life of Pille, Andreas' wife, imprisoned for multiple homicide. Filmed in the style of «cinéma vérité», it is a rare look into the Estonian penal system and, at the same time, the story of a woman who has suffered violent abuse at the hands of her husband. A barrage of images of women and their daily life in the prisons linger over the tattoos, their children being breastfed, moments in which they retreat to the kitchen. At the same time, a voice over narration tells the story of Pille's terrible life.
