Abstract: Cosa fai quando il tuo matrimonio internazionale fallisce e vuoi tenere i tuoi figli? In "Stolen Children", la regista Ivanka Bakker ritrae due donne che lottano per i loro figli. Miranda è una 'rapitrice', Jeanette è stata vittima del rapimento delle proprie figlie. Miranda ha lasciato il suo compagno italiano 3 anni e mezzo fa. Ha portato sua figlia Noa in Olanda senza avere il consenso del padre, il quale non vuole perdere sua figlia. Dopo 3 anni di udienze e cause, i giudici olandesi decidono che Noa dovrà tornare in Italia. Miranda e Noa si nascondono alle autorità. Ma la polizia olandese intercetta il suo cellulare. Le due figlie di Jeanette non sono mai tornate in Olanda dopo essere andate vacanza con il padre egiziano. Le trattative non sono possibili perché l'Egitto non ha riconosciuto la Convenzione dell'Aia sui rapimenti di bambini. L'unica possibilità di riavere le sue figlie è la mediazione o aprire una causa legale.
What do you do when your international marriage fails and you want to keep your children? In "Stolen Children", director Ivanka Bakker portrays two women who are fighting for their children. Miranda is a 'kidnapper', Jeanette is a victim of child abduction. Miranda left her Italian partner 3,5 years ago. She brought her daughter Noa to the Netherlands without the consent of the father. He does not want to lose his daughter. After 3 years of hearings and lawsuits, the Dutch judges decide that Noa will have to go back to Italy. Miranda and Noa immediately hide from the authorities. But the Dutch police are tapping her cellphone. Jeanette’s two daughters did not come back to Holland after a holiday with their Egyptian father. Negotiations are not possible because Egypt did not recognize The Hague Convention on Child Abduction. The only possibility to get her daughters back is through mediation or a lawsuit.
