Abstract: I personaggi del film erano bambini quando i loro genitori furono depredati di ogni cosa. Questo film racconta la storia di come siano sopravvissuti alla Grande Carestia Ucraina (Holodomor) del 1932-33. Diplomatici italiani, polacchi e di altri paesi riferirono ai loro governi della situazione in Ucraina. Si ricorda anche la storia del giornalista britannico Gareth Jones, i cui rapporti veritieri sulla tragedia ucraina non furono mai ascoltati in Occidente. Come hanno fatto così tanti paesi a mostrare tale indifferenza? Come fa una società agricola a rialzarsi e a diventare padrona della propria terra? Solo i vivi possono risorgere.
The characters of the film were children when everything was taken away from their parents. This film tells the story of how they survived the Great Ukrainian Famine (Holodomor) of 1932-33. Diplomats from Italy, Poland and other countries reported to their Governments about the situation in Ukraine. It also tells the story of British journalist Gareth Jones, whose truthful reports about the Ukrainian tragedy were never heard in the West. How did so many countries show such indifference to other people’s suffering? How does an agricultural society rise back to its feet and become master of its own land? Only the living can rise again.
