Abstract: Per la maggior parte dei giovani iraniani, Teheran è un posto frustrante in cui vivere. La stampa è censurata, i ragazzi e le ragazze stanno spesso separati e tutto ciò che ha a che fare con il sesso è un tabù. Con il 60% della popolazione sotto i trent'anni, le autorità stanno diventando più consapevoli dei problemi che i giovani devono affrontare. Il Sighe, un matrimonio temporaneo di durata compresa tra 1 ora e 99 anni, potrebbe essere un modo per liberare alcune frustrazioni e dare spazio ai giovani in questo paese dove il sesso extra-coniugale rimane fuori discussione. La questione ha scatenato accesi dibattiti, poiché molti la vedono come una prostituzione legalizzata. "1 Hour - 99 Years" offre un'intrigante visione della vita delle persone in questa società giovane, frustrata e confusa e il modo in cui vecchie pratiche religiose, come lo è il Sighe, vengono usate nel tentativo di risolvere i problemi contemporanei.
For most young Iranians, Tehran is a frustrating place to live. The press is censored, boys and girls are often separated and everything that has to do with sex is taboo. With 60% of the population under the age of thirty, authorities are getting more aware of the problems young people face. Sighe, a temporary marriage for between 1 hour and 99 years, could be a way to release some of the frustrations and give young people some room in this country where extra-marital sex remains out of question. The issue has triggered heated debates, as many see it as legalized prostitution. "1 Hour – 99 Years" gives an intriguing insight into the lives of people in this young, frustrated and confused society and the way old religious practices, like Sighe is, are being used in an attempt to solve contemporary problems.
