Abstract: "Vivid dreams"è un tributo ad Arthur C. Clarke (1917 - 2008) scrittore di fantascienza, sceneggiatore di "2001: Odissea nello spazio" nonché inventore dell'orbita geostazionaria per i satelliti. Il film racconta l’avventuroso viaggio del regista in Sri Lanka, dove Clarke viveva, nel tentativo di incontrarlo. Dopo una lunga attesa, passata ad esplorare il paese ed a scoprire aspetti della vita e del lavoro di Clarke, al regista viene finalmente concesso di incontrarlo, e di raccogliere le dichiarazioni di un uomo saggio, ormai sul letto di morte. Le parole che pronuncia sul significato della vita, sull’immortalità e sul futuro dell’umanità sono il suo testamento all'umanità.
"Vivid dreams" is a tribute to Arthur C. Clarke (1917 - 2008), a science fiction writer, the screenwriter of "2001: A Space Odyssey" and the inventor of geostationary orbit for satellites. The film recounts the director's adventurous journey to Sri Lanka, where Clarke lived, in an attempt to meet him. After a long wait, exploring the country and discovering aspects of Clarke's life and work, the filmmaker is finally allowed to meet him and take statements from a wise man on his deathbed. His words on the meaning of life, immortality and the future of mankind are his testament to humanity.
