Abstract: Già con la rinuncia a dare un titolo al suo lavoro, l’autore ha scelto di non condizionare con l’ingombro di un punto di vista precostituito la libertà dei protagonisti di aprire la propria anima alla macchina da presa partendo dal racconto di cosa sia per loro una giornata normale. X Alfonso (questo lo pseudonimo che l'autore ha deciso di usare) lascia parlare liberamente gli artisti che più si identificano con la realtà e il sentimento del popolo delle calles e dei barrios popolari dell'Avana. Sono musicisti, artisti visuali, attori, rappers, danzatori, scrittori, alcuni famosi, come Omara Portuondo e Chucho Valdez, Yusa, altri meno famosi all’estero ma amatissimi a Cuba e in America Latina. Nella composizione del grande mosaico dei sentimenti autentici e delle attese del popolo cubano che il film disegna, si alternano figure popolari di gente semplice come l’affilatore di forbici, il fotografo del Capitolio, il collezionista di bottoni o il distillatore clandestino: gente comune che ricorre alla creatività per dare senso e bellezza alla quotidianità. L’autenticità e la verità dell’immagine di Cuba raccontata dai protagonisti non è condizionata dalle reticenze e dalle censure. E’ una immagine che rifugge alle indulgenze folkloristiche. E’ semplicemente la fotografia più intima e più vera dei sentimenti inascoltati che vivono nell’anima del popolo cubano.
By refusing to give his work a title, the author has chosen not to encumber the freedom of the protagonists to open their souls to the camera by telling them what a normal day is for them. X Alfonso (this is the pseudonym the author has decided to use) lets the artists who most identify with the reality and feelings of the people of the 'calles' and the popular 'barrios' of Havana speak freely. They are musicians, visual artists, actors, rappers, dancers, writers, some famous, like Omara Portuondo and Chucho Valdez, Yusa, others less famous abroad but much loved in Cuba and Latin America. In the composition of the great mosaic of authentic feelings and expectations of the Cuban people that the film draws, there are popular figures of simple people such as the scissors sharpener, the Capitolio photographer, the button collector or the clandestine distiller: ordinary people who resort to creativity to give meaning and beauty to everyday life. The authenticity and truth of the image of Cuba told by the protagonists is not conditioned by reticence and censorship. It is an image that eschews folkloric indulgences. It is simply the most intimate and truest photograph of the unheard feelings that live in the soul of the Cuban people.
