Abstract: Alla fine degli anni Settanta anche l’Italia viene scossa dall’onda lunga delle ripercussioni che la rivoluzione estetica del punk statunitense e britannico ha provocato in tutto il mondo. Il panorama musicale nazionale, saldamente in mano all’egemonia dei cantautori e ai discepoli del progressive meno inventivo, viene aggredito da un’ondata di creatività e innovazione fuori dagli schemi, assolutamente imprevedibile. "Non fu un fenomeno che riguardava solo la musica. Intorno alle nuove sonorità si raccoglieva anche la spinta proveniente dal basso dell’autoproduzione che si manifestava in fanzine, grafica, etichette indipendenti, organizzazioni di concerti, fumetti, arte" (P. De Iulis). Attraverso le vicende di band come Litfiba, Diaframma, Skiantos, Gaz Nevada e altri ancora, "Crollo nervoso" ripercorre quello che probabilmente è stato l’ultimo grande fenomeno di completa riscrittura dei codici urbani giovanili (e non solo) dell’Italia della fine degli anni Settanta, rimettendo in scena non solo la musica che commentò quelle trasformazioni, ma soprattutto l’ansia di cambiamento di un’intera generazione che, rifiutando le regole non scritte dei fratelli maggiori, inventò un nuovo modo di pensare musica, praticare la politica e vivere.
In the late Seventies Italy felt the world-wide reverberations of the shock wave that the American and British punk aesthetic kicked off. The national music scene, largely in the hands of the singer-songwriter hegemony and disciples of less inventive progressive music, was assailed by a wave of creativity and innovation that broke the mold, and was absolutely unforseeable. “The phenomenon wasn’t only about the music. Around the sound there was also a drive coming out of self-production that could be seen in the graphic work, independent labels, concerts, cartoons, art” (P. De Iulis). Through the music of Litfiba, Diaframma, Skiantos, Gaz Nevada and others, it’s possible to trace what was probably the last great phenomenon to re-write the rules for urban Italian kids at the end of the Seventies. Through interviews with the stars of that unrepeatable season, this film brings us back the music that not only sparked those transformations, but also shows us the anxiety for change of an entire generation that, by refuting the unwritten rules of their elders, created and practiced a new way of thinking about music, politics and how to live.
