Abstract: Tredici detenute e le loro guardie, in Afghanistan. Il film segue due binari paralleli - la vita delle prigioniere e quella del direttore della prigione femminile e dei suoi consiglieri stranieri. Il film mostra l'interazione di vari livelli di reclusione. Un livello è quello delle prigioniere stesse, l'altro è quello delle regole severe e repressive imposte alle donne afgane. Un altro livello ancora è quello della minaccia alla sicurezza percepita dai consiglieri esterni.
Thirteen female prisoners and their guards, in Afghanistan. The film follows two parallel tracks - the lives of the prisoners and the lives of the women's prison warden and his foreign advisors. The film shows the interaction of different levels of imprisonment. One level is that of the prisoners themselves, the other is that of the strict and repressive rules imposed on Afghan women. Yet another level is that of the perceived security threat posed by the foreign advisors.
