Abstract: I rom di Istanbul si sono insediati a Sulukule dall'XI secolo. Nel 2006 il Comune, insieme a un'impresa edile statale, ha iniziato a distruggere diverse quartieri abitati dai rom in tutta Istanbul e, alla fine, sono arrivati alla storica Sulukule. Il regista segue le ultime famiglie che vivono in quel che resta delle loro case, tra rovine e rifugi di fortuna. Privi di qualsiasi futuro e profondamente depressi, questa gente è caratterizzata da uno strano umorismo e da un'iridescenza particolare. Gli ultimi abitanti Sulukule trascorrono così gli ultimi giorni nel loro quartiere morente.
Istanbul's Roma have been settled in Sulukule since the 11th century. In 2006, the municipality, together with a state-owned construction company, began to destroy several Roma-inhabited neighbourhoods throughout Istanbul, and eventually they arrived at historic Sulukule. The director follows the last families living in what remains of their homes, amidst ruins and makeshift shelters. Devoid of any future and deeply depressed, these people are characterised by a strange humour and a peculiar iridescence. The last Sulukule inhabitants thus spend their last days in their dying neighbourhood.
