Abstract: In Colombia, lo Spirito del fiume Magdalena, che si chiama Mohan, vive nel fiume, fuma tabacco e beve aguardiente. A volte si siede su una grande pietra in mezzo al fiume, aspettando l'arrivo degli uomini. Oppure gioca con i pescatori, facendo aggrovigliare le loro reti o spaventando i pesci. Mohan è in grado di attirare le donne più belle nel suo palazzo dorato nelle profondità dell'acqua. Da esso, una musica melodica sale in superficie. Alcune donne tornano incinte, altre non tornano più. Qualche tempo fa, la gente ha notato che il Mohan non veniva più in superficie. Oggi la gente non lo rispetta più come un tempo. I paramilitari hanno spaventato anche il diavolo, e il fiume Magdalena continua a nascondere i propri morti nelle sue profondità.

Some time ago, people noticed that the Mohan no longer came to the surface. Today, people no longer respect him as they used to. The paramilitaries have scared even the devil away, and the Magdalena River continues to hide its dead in its depths.
