Abstract: Nel settembre 2009, una squadra di calcio femminile ha rappresentato il Giappone alle Deaflympics, l'olimpiade per audiolesi tenutasi a Taipei. Tutte le partecipanti hanno dovuto pagarsi il viaggio, ma per il calcio si fa questo ed altro. Il documentario segue gli sforzi per inseguire i loro sogni, combinando riprese delle partite ad interviste e scene della vita quotidiana. Per queste atlete il calcio è una metafora della questione centrale nelle loro vite: come comunicare - tra di loro, tra udenti e non-udenti, tra persone di lingue e culture diverse. Inutile negare che esistono problemi di comunicazione, sia nel parlato che nello scritto, alcuni tra questi sono peculiari alla condizione dei non udenti in Giappone. Alla fine il contatto visivo diventa la chiave, non solo per le giocatrici in campo, ma anche per noi spettatori.
In September 2009, a women's football team represented Japan at the Deaflympics, the Olympics for the hearing impaired held in Taipei. All the participants had to pay their own way, but for football you do this and more. The documentary follows their efforts to pursue their dreams, combining footage from the games with interviews and scenes from everyday life. For these athletes, football is a metaphor for the central issue in their lives: how to communicate - with each other, between hearing and deaf people, between people of different languages and cultures. There is no denying that there are communication problems, both in speech and writing, some of which are peculiar to the condition of deaf people in Japan. In the end, eye contact becomes the key, not only for the players on the court, but also for us in the audience.
